Protecting Children and Young People Under 18
At Saberwars, the safety and well-being of children and young people under 18 is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment where all participants feel protected and respected.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
- Every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and supported.
- We follow robust safeguarding procedures to ensure all activities are conducted safely and responsibly.
- We have zero tolerance for any form of abuse, neglect, or bullying.
- Our team has completed the Introduction to Safeguarding Children (Level 1) training from High Speed Training, ensuring we meet fundamental safeguarding standards.
Child Protection Officer (CPO)
Scott Taylor is the designated Child Protection Officer (CPO) for Saberwars. The CPO is responsible for:
✔ Acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
✔ Ensuring all staff and volunteers understand and comply with our safeguarding procedures.
✔ Liaising with local child protection services if required.
✔ Recording and escalating any concerns appropriately.

Reporting Concerns
We encourage anyone who has a safeguarding concern to speak up. All concerns will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity.
Concerns can be reported to the CPO or, where necessary, to external safeguarding authorities, such as:

- Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
- Police (999 in an emergency)
Code of Conduct
To ensure a safe and supportive environment, all staff, volunteers, and participants must follow these guidelines:
What We Expect
✅ Treat all children and young people with respect, dignity, and fairness.
✅ Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
✅ Ensure all activities and equipment are safe and age-appropriate.
✅ Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the CPO.
What We Prohibit
🚫 Any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment.
🚫 Being alone with a child in a non-visible or non-public setting.
🚫 Sharing inappropriate content, including images or messages.
🚫 Failing to report a safeguarding concern.
Parental Consent & Supervision
For participants under 18, we require written parental or guardian consent for:
✅ Participation in Saberwars activities.
✅ Photography or video recording for promotional purposes.
Guardian Presence
- A group guardian (parent, teacher, or responsible adult) must be present at the event for all under-18 participants.
- All participants under 18 must have a signed waiver before engaging in activities.
Ongoing Training & Policy Review
We are committed to continuous improvement in safeguarding. To maintain high standards:
- Our team has completed Introduction to Safeguarding Children (Level 1) and will continue ongoing safeguarding training.
- This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if changes in safeguarding laws or best practices arise.
